Aircraft Maintenance Engineer also called "AME" is a very important position in the engineering department of Aircraft Maintenance which is regulated by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as per the aircraft rules of Aircraft Act 1934. As mandated by DGCA (Govt. of India), AMEs are appointed by all the organizations engaged in aircraft flying and it's maintenance like Airlines, FTOs , MROs, etc. to carry out and certify all kinds of Aircraft and Its components maintenance.
In other words an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is basically a person licensed to carry out & certify the maintenance of aircraft or its component for its fitness before it is released for flying/service as this is the mandatory requirement as per the regulation
